Camsoft’s USB dongle key security uses older RockUSB drivers.  On occasion, the driver that the Camsoft installation installs, gets updated by windows automatically or by the user unintentionally.  The newer RockeyUSB4 and Rockey4 drivers that windows installs, can cause problems for the software security feature.   Sometimes, the new drivers do work with the software and sometimes on some Windows systems, they fail with our software.  The exact cause is undetermined.  The solution is to remove the new drivers and make sure that only the driver which is installed by Camsoft’s installation is the one being used.

Begin by launching the Windows Device Manager applet.

Device Manager

  • Expand the Universal Serial Bus controllers key.
  • Select the device Feitian Rockey4
  • Right mouse click to bring up the side menu.
  • Select Uninstall from the menu.
  • Confirm device removal by clicking on the OK button.
  • If prompted to restart computer answer no.
  • Next select the device Feitian Rockey4USB.
  • Right mouse click to bring up the side menu.
  • Select Uninstall from the menu.
  • Confirm device removal by clicking on the OK button.
  • If prompted to restart computer answer no.
  • Remove the Camsoft green USB dongle from the PC.
  • Open up a windows explorer window and navigate to the c:\windows\inf folder.
  • Search for the oem(n).inf and .pnf files.  Open up each oem(n).inf file using notepad to determine if it is the file for Feitian by examining the contents.  Once the correct files are found, delete them.
  • Navigate to the c:\windows\system32\drivers folder.
  • Search for and delete the files named rockey4.sys, and rockey4usb.sys.
  • Reboot the PC.
  • Back at the Windows desktop, insert the Camsoft green USB security key dongle back into any available USB port.
  • When the Windows Hardware wizard appears, choose to install the USB KEY driver automatically.

Once the windows hardware wizard finishes, the LED on the dongle should be lit a solid green.  Launch CNC Professional to confirm that the security key is functioning properly.
